Understanding Common ENT Issues: What Your Ears, Nose, and Throat Are Telling You

Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) symptoms are incredibly common—yet many people aren’t sure what they actually mean for their health. Whether it’s a persistent cough, ringing in the ears, or constant congestion, these issues can affect daily comfort, sleep, communication, and overall well‑being.

To help our community better understand these concerns, we invited Dr. Andrew Lee, a board‑certified otolaryngologist, to share his expertise in a clear, easy to understand manner. See how Dr. Lee breaks down the most frequent ENT problems he sees in his practice and explains what symptoms to watch for, how to manage them, and when it’s time to seek medical care.

What You’ll Learn

Dr. Lee covers a wide range of topics that affect people of all ages. His explanations are practical, easy to understand, and grounded in real‑world experience.

  • Tinnitus & Hearing Loss - Learn about the different types of hearing loss, what is tinnitus and how to manage it, and steps you can take to protect your hearing.

  • Ear Pain - From infections to jaw issues, ear pain can come from many sources. Understand the differences and what symptoms require additional attention.

  • The “Triad”: Coughing, Sore Throat & Throat Clearing - These three symptoms often appear together. Discover what they may signal—such as irritation, reflux, or post‑nasal drip—and how to manage them effectively.

  • Runny Nose, Congestion & Post‑Nasal Drip - Nasal symptoms are among the most common ENT complaints. Learn what’s normal, what’s not, and how to find relief.

  • Snoring - Snoring isn’t just a nighttime nuisance—it can be a sign of more severe underlying issues. Learn when snoring is harmless and when it may indicate something more serious, like obstructive sleep apnea.

The Goal of the Health Talk

ENT symptoms are often overlooked or dismissed as “normal,” but they can provide important clues about your overall health. Through this health talk you can gain clear explanations of common symptoms, practical tips for managing discomfort, guidance on when to seek medical care, and a better understanding of how ENT health affects daily life, including how it can increase risk of comorbidities.
