Swinging for a Cause

June 2, 2025

On June 2, 2025, the lush fairways of Richland Golf Club in Middletown, Maryland, became more than just a field of play—they became a field of hope. The 2025 CCACC Health Center Charity Golf Cup brought together 44 golfers, dedicated sponsors, and community champions for a meaningful cause: raising funds to provide preventive lab tests for uninsured and underinsured residents in Montgomery County.

This annual tradition is more than a tournament—it’s a lifeline. Thanks to generous donations and sponsorships, this year’s event successfully raised funds to cover 50 free preventive lab panels (including CMP, CPT, lipid panel, and hepatitis B screening) for individuals who had not received a health check in over a year.

The Charity Golf Cup supports services provided by the Pan Asian Volunteer Health Clinic (PAVHC), operated by CCACC Health Center and part of the Montgomery Cares network. Each May and September, the clinic hosts free preventive lab days. These critical services are followed by consultations with care coordinators who help patients understand their results, provide health education, and often connect them to consistent, long-term care options.

“Your help, their hope”—the theme of this year’s event—was embodied by returning title sponsor Mr. Ted Schwab, whose family has supported the Golf Cup since 2019. “I bring my children and my family to participate in this amazing event,” said Mr. Schwab. “It has become a tradition for us—a time to reflect on our privilege and give back to the community.”

Longtime supporters Mrs. Gina Chen and Dr. Mo-Ping Chow also contributed once again, helping ensure the event’s continued success and impact.

The event's warmth, camaraderie, and purpose-filled atmosphere continue to build momentum for the clinic's mission: making quality, culturally competent healthcare accessible to all, regardless of income or insurance status.

The CCACC Health Center is deeply grateful to all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and players who made this event possible. Together, we are building a healthier tomorrow, one swing at a time.
