Meet Our Team

At CCACC Health Center, our team of experienced bilingual doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and volunteers is passionate about serving the community. Since our founding in 2003, many medical professionals have generously given their time to care for low-income and uninsured patients. We also support local students interested in healthcare, many of whom have gone on to medical school after volunteering with us. Together, our team is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care that helps our community grow stronger and healthier.

Dr. Mo-Ping Chow, MD is an experienced General Internist in Gaithersburg, MD. Having over 40 years of experience in the medical field, he completed his education at the National Defense Medical Center in Taiwan in 1975. Dr. Chow was affiliated with the Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center where he delivered quality care to patients. He now serves as a volunteer physician, continuing to provide medical care to people in need.

Xiaoping Shao

Dr. Xiaoping Shao is a highly experienced licensed and board-certified psychiatrist specializing in treating psychiatric disorders in adolescents and adults. Her areas of expertise include depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and adjustment disorders. She is dedicated to helping her patients achieve comprehensive wellness.

She taught medical Microbiology and Immunology to students at her Alma Mater before coming to the US to pursue a graduate degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. Driven by her passion for promoting mental health awareness and combating the stigma associated with mental illness, Dr. Shao collaborated with a dedicated group of physicians and staff at CCACC, initiating the Mental Health 360 Program in 2015. She has been a leading figure in the program.

Over the years, Mental Health 360 has united local physicians and educators to provide comprehensive education and support to the Asian American community. They collaborated with experts and academics from around the nation to educate the public and emphasize the intersection of culture and mental health. Through various initiatives, the program has empowered the Asian American community with knowledge on emotional well-being and fostered a greater understanding and awareness of mental health.

She started her career working as a registered nurse at a post-acute rehab and community clinic. Jihyun is dedicated to providing culturally inclusive care and has undergone cultural competency training, enabling her to understand and respect the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of her patients.

Dr. Gexin Wang is a highly accomplished medical professional with extensive expertise in neurology, primary care, pain management, and neuroscience research. Holding an MD, PhD, Doctorate in Acupuncture, and a Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Dr. Wang brings a unique and integrative approach to patient care.

With seven years of experience in neurology, 10 years in primary care, and over 15 years dedicated to pain and neuroscience research, Dr. Wang possesses in-depth medical knowledge and comprehensive clinical skills. Her multidisciplinary background allows her to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care, blending conventional medicine with holistic healing practices.

Committed to delivering sincere, compassionate, and thorough healthcare services, Dr. Wang strives to empower patients with tailored treatment plans that enhance their overall well-being.

Cixin Wang

Dr. Cixin Wang, PhD, is a psychologist in Gaithersburg, MD. She serves as an associate professor at the University of Maryland, College Park’s School of Psychology in the College of Education (Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education). Her research focuses on preventing bullying and promoting mental health in children and adolescents.

With over 50 SCI journal articles, Dr. Wang brings a wealth of knowledge to her work. She has hands-on experience conducting individual and family therapies for children and adolescents with conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and behavioral difficulties. Her approach combines client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused techniques, designed to suit the needs of the Asian American population. She is deeply committed to serving the Asian American community and has dedicated over 100 hours to conducting workshops. In 2017, she was honored with the Early Career Award by the Asian American Psychological Association in recognition of her outstanding contributions.

Huixing (Kate) Lu serves as the Director of CCACC Health Center. Since 2011, she has been the director of the CCACC Pan Asian Volunteer Health Clinic. Under her guidance, the clinic evolved from a charitable medical service provider into a comprehensive community clinic that takes a psycho-social medical approach and ensures individual needs are met through a range of services.

She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland (LCSW-C) and Washington D.C. (LISWC), enabling her to deliver clinical services to clients and families dealing with mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and stress resulting from life changes. Her expertise extends to providing specialized support to families with children who have special needs, such as autism.

Beyond clinical work, Kate actively shares her insights by speaking at seminars and workshops. Her presentations cover a wide range of topics, from end-of-life care to caregiver support, aiming to enhance awareness and understanding of unique mental health challenges faced by a diverse population. Her exceptional leadership and dedication have contributed to the improvement of mental health services in the community.

Shobha Solomon

Shobha Solomon is a highly accomplished healthcare professional with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University and a Post-Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has an extensive nursing background, having served as a Staff Nurse in Saudi Arabia and a Nursing Tutor at the Indian Red Cross before becoming a Registered Nurse in Maryland.

Shoba has been recognized for her contributions to healthcare, receiving a Certificate of Excellence for the DMAIC project "Infection Control 48-hour Antimicrobial Alert" in 2017 and a Certificate of Achievement at the Washington Adventist Hospital's Nursing Professional Advancement Program. Committed to community service, she teaches a master guide class at the Southern Asian Adventist Church in Silver Spring, MD.

Jing Zhang

Dr. Jing Zhang is a general psychiatrist with over 20 years of medical experience in the U.S. She completed her psychiatric residency at the University of Chicago and treats a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, schizophrenia, OCD, and other common psychiatric disorders. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Zhang is one of the few psychiatrists in the area with extensive experience in psychiatric research and drug development. She earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Uniformed Services University, spent five years conducting psychiatric research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and has led several major global clinical trials for new psychiatric medications.
